Hunt Electric collaborated with the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) to install electrical infrastructure along a remote stretch of I-15 to power the technology drivers rely on for their safety, convenience, and ease of travel. The Baker Canyon section of I-15 between Fillmore and Beaver, Utah needed medium-voltage electricity to power variable message signs (VMS), highway lighting, and a weather station. The Hunt High Voltage and Traffic and Infrastructure divisions extended underground electrical service to I-15 by installing more than seven miles of wire and setting all transformers and terminations and making both primary and secondary connections.
Working on a busy freeway required Hunt to coordinate closely with UDOT to implement traffic control procedures that ensured the safety of both workers and motorists. Our work on the Baker Canyon project equipped this isolated part of I-15 with the continuity of essential technology that provides services to improve safety on the road and convenience in travel.
