UVU Pedestrian Bridge

The Utah Valley University (UVU) Pedestrian Bridge spans more than 1,000 feet over I-15 and the railroad tracks. It safely accommodates pedestrian, bicycle, and scooter traffic between the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) Frontrunner Orem station and the UVU campus. The structure features elevators and parking lots on either side, a covered and heated bridge deck, 125 lights, and 18 security cameras.

Hunt Electric played a design-assist role on the project and four of our divisions joined in its completion. The high voltage group relocated power and transmission lines for UVU. Infrastructure and traffic completed the parking lot and underground work. The Electrical division completed the bridge itself including all the lighting and conduit work as it crossed I-15 and the railroad bridge. Our technology group handled the security work for the bridge.

Coordinating such a complex project required us to work closely with the general contractor, Kraemer North America, UTA, Union Pacific Rail Road, the Utah Department of Transportation, and UVU.

This project was given the UC&D 2021 Most Outstanding Bridges/Structures award.
