This University of Utah Madsen Surgery Center is a three-story remodel of an existing facility that also includes a new addition. Half of the facility needed to remain open during construction, so Hunt Electric’s crew had to abide by HIPAA laws, patient confidentiality, and Infection Control and Risk Assessment (ICRA) guidelines. Early in the project, our team determined there was an issue with the design and that the ceiling heights could not accommodate the selected light fixtures or cable tray. The team was able to offer ideas for slim-profile lighting fixtures that satisfied the architect and electrical engineer and provided an alternate cable management system. Not only did these new options solve the problem, they ultimately were a better value to the client.
