Hunt Electric’s Sustainable Energy division was
selected to design and installed a 71.44 KW DC array consisting of 188 solar
modules. This system will generate an anticipated 91,724 kilowatt-hours (kWh)
of electricity per year. The sustainability team faced the challenge of
installing a roof-mounted system on an aging roof that had difficulty bearing
its weight. To ensure the safety and reliability of the system, Hunt worked
with the racking manufacturer and their structural engineer to develop a
customized hybrid attached ballast system that was light enough for the roof.
A significant portion of the system’s cost was
funded by Rocky Mountain Power’s Blue Sky Program which supports renewable energy.
