Hunt Electric was selected by the general contractor, Okland Construction, to design and install twelve covered parking lot carports that support 3,168 solar photovoltaic panels. This project covers 130,000 square feet of pavement and 412 vehicle parking stalls. The solar panels will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 1,109 metric tons. This is the equivalent of eliminating the annual emissions of 240 passenger vehicles or eliminating the annual electricity use of 188 homes.
The Hunt team faced the challenge of working on a site with a high water table and poor quality soil for building, so we increased the size of the foundations to accommodate the conditions. Because the project took place during the winter, we used additional safety equipment to protect workers from slips, trips, and falls.
