Hunt Electric was selected as a
design-build contractor to collaborate with other partners on the project and
help meet the project’s compressed schedule. We consulted numerous entities
within the university during the design phase to understand the owner’s needs
and find innovative solutions to address them. With Hunt as a member of the
team, design was able to take place simultaneously with construction.
This 555-bed, seven-story residence hall
is the first of its kind on campus, and building it required a creative
approach. To decrease congestion and accelerate construction, we alternated
work between two sections of the building and collaborated with other trades to
assemble different sections of the project separately and connect them
seamlessly.
The general contractor, JE Dunn,
summarized our performance on the project this way, “Hunt’s field operations
executed the work with grit, dedication, passion, and excellence that resulted
in an exceptional client experience.”
Our work on the project won the
Associated General Contractors (AGC) 2021 ACE Best Building Project ($6 - $10
Million - Subcontractor) award.
