This is 72-unit, 146 bed facility, and is in Park City at the base of the Utah Olympic Park Nordic jumps. The Residences are thoughtfully built, affordable accommodations for Olympic sports athletes and the Utah Olympic Park employees. It provides an affordable housing option during training and will be an invaluable asset should Utah be selected as the location for the 2030 Winter Olympic Games.
The project has a wood-framed structure and was built on a steep mountain slope on solid bedrock, and construction crews had to be mindful of protecting sensitive natural surroundings and wildlife. To aid efficiency, the contractor’s virtual design team implemented a 2D overlay to detect clashes, which were corrected before field work began. Hunt Electric’s design and construction team worked closely with the general contractor and architects to contribute solutions and design ideas from the start of the project. Schedule was of most important, and one of the many reasons why the Jacobsen team and owner representatives selected Hunt Electric as the design-builder electrical and technology contractor. Along some of the cost-effective design elements, we provided a unique chandelier idea in the grand entrance by combining 5 individual fixtures, adding much character to that area.
