Morgan Asphalt High Voltage

This project includes a design-assist High Voltage Backbone for the new Morgan Asphalt plant being built in Magna, Utah. The Hunt Electric High Voltage team provided support to Morgan Asphalt by assisting in an early electrical design allowing them to become a primary metered (high voltage) customer for Rocky Mountain Power. To meet the critical deadlines, converting to a primary meter (12.47kv) was essential as Hunt Electric was able to move faster than the Electrical utility in purchasing and installing High Voltage material. This high voltage delivery also allows Morgan Asphalt to operate on a more cost-effective rate schedule for a better return to the bottom line. Hunt Electric provided and installed the primary metering cabinet, transformers, fused sectionalizers, and underground wire. Hunt Electric works with their customers in providing options and alternatives for switching and energizing the high voltage system. Morgan Asphalt was able to meet their critical start-up deadlines, allowing the plant to come on-line and start production in time for the busy spring demand. By working together early in the design process, Hunt Electric could understand the customer needs and what it takes to make their customers successful.
