Patua Geothermal Solar

Hunt Electric provided design-build services for this utility ground-mounted solar array in a remote area of western Nevada. Hunt Electric was responsible for engineering, procuring, and installing the 10MW AC solar array that will be used in conjunction with geothermal energy to produce and provide energy to the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD). The 83-acre site provided unique challenges to the team, who had to work through hot, windy conditions and use ground screws to install the panels in the rocky terrain. The crew worked over 40,000 man-hours without any major safety incidents and finished the 120-day project in only 90 days. Hunt Electric also provided substation relay controls that monitor and control the 43,770 325-watt solar panels separately from the adjacent binary geothermal production plant, maximizing the energy provided to the client. Hunt Electric used state-of-the-art technology to design and install this project. The NEXTracker tracking system on the project is self-powered and has the largest tracking range in the industry. The system has been producing 102% of the energy predicted since deployment.
