Lancaster Little Rock C

sPower contracted with Hunt Electric to design and build a 7MW solar PV system on a 40-acre site in Palmdale, CA. The installed system consists of 82,350 thin film FS-385 photovoltaic modules, rated at 85W each, manufactured by First Solar. The modules were mounted at a fixed tilt of 25 degrees and face due south. The DC power generated is then inverted to AC power using ten Advanced Energy 500NX-1kV inverters, divided among four locations throughout project site. The AC power at each location is then stepped up to 12,470V and connected to the local distribution system. This new solar PV array is expected to contribute more than 13,400 MWh of energy to the local power distribution system. The Little Rock solar facility is expected to generate enough clean, sustainable power to displace nearly 10,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide each year, which is the equivalent of greenhouse gas emissions from 22,732,428 miles per year driven by an average passenger vehicle or 3,422 tons of waste sent to the landfill. The project will provide the same amount of annual carbon sequestration as 7,826 acres of U.S. forests would.
