Last summer Vail announced a $50M improvement plan that included connecting the former Canyons Resort to Park City Mountain Resort through a high-speed gondola. To make this happen, Hunt Electric had to complete the work in less than half of the usual time it would normally take. With this addition, Vail created the largest ski resort in the country - Park City Resort with 7,300 skiable acres.

Hunt Electric delivered electrical design-build infrastructure services for many of the improvement projects. Our engineering department provided design support that helped with the coordination of Rocky Mountain Power's infrastructure work that took place earlier in the project.

We had approximately 60 days to order equipment and complete the project for the grand opening. Most of the service gear had typical 6-8 week lead times that we shortened to 3 weeks. We had to be innovative and manage the large magnitude of work with a short time frame and unfavorable weather conditions.

Some of the more notable scopes of work include the installation of additonal snow making pumps, new electrical services at many of the snow guns and for the heat tape on the snow making lines, provided over a mile of trenching and conduit for Rocky Mountain Power, along with two large retaining walls in The Colony residential development, and added new electrical service to the Quicksilver, KingCon, Motherlode, Silverlode and many other lifts.
