Phase II of the PV system is designed to offset 3.5% of the electrical load of this warehouse building. Phase II’s DC rating is 146.8 kW and the total DC size of the roof-top system is 181.6kW. The system is designed to be compliant with the Buy American Provision of ARRA. The PV system consists of (612) 240 watt solar modules that are mounted on a custom-designed penetrated racking system. The module racking system was designed to minimize penetrations and maximize generation efficiencies. The racking system mounts three modules high in the landscape orientation. The modules are mounted at a 10 degree elevation tilt angle and a 180 degree azimuth angle (South). The panels are connected in strings of 13 and 12 modules with a total of 48 strings. The inverters chosen for the project are the SMA Sunny Boy 8000-US. Three strings are connected to each inverter, for total of 16 inverters. The approximate energy production of the installed system is 190,594 kilowatt hours per year.
