Clover Creek Substation

Hunt Electric acted as the general contractor to build the substation. We worked closely with the engineering team and the owner and coordinated the work of all specialty contractors. Clover Creek is a 345 kV substation that transforms power from a 560-acre solar farm west of Mona Lake in Juab County, Utah. This facility generates 80 megawatts of energy for six local communities (Provo, Spanish Fork, Nephi, Salem, Manti, and Levan). It serves these communities by supplying them with low-cost energy to replace the coal-fired power they use today. Hunt’s High Voltage team called on our Infrastructure division to prepare the site. The project also involved our Technology and Electrical Automation divisions.

Our advanced planning, communication, coordination, and the relationship we built with the owner allowed us to meet project expectations and helped deliver Clover Creek on time for commissioning.

Hunt Electric won the 2021 Utah Construction & Design (UC&D) award for Specialty Contracting - Electrical. And we also won the 2021 Associated General Contractors (AGC) award for Specialty Construction Project of the Year (Highway/Transportation/Utilities Infrastructure Division) for our work on the Clover Creek project.
