Compressed Natural Gas Stations

The Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueling industry is gaining popularity among trucking and light-duty fleets due to the dramatic fuel cost savings. CNG has become a viable alternative to gas and diesel fuels. Hunt Electric is pleased to have been part of the construction team for many CNG stations in Utah and surrounding states.

Servicing the Community While Protecting the Environment
Hunt Electric is experienced in the installation of all electrical equipment associated with the construction of CNG fueling stations. We are involved as early as the design phase of the project and help the general contractor coordinate with the local power companies for the main service location and size. Our scope includes installation of primary power conduit, transformer pad or vault, main service equipment, motor starter panels, VFD’s and other specialized components. We also install all conduit, wiring and terminations for the compressor, gas dryer, dispensers, emergency stop devices, area lighting for dispensers, and card readers. The CNG sites are classified as a hazardous location, and specific installation practices need to be followed. We work directly with the manufacturer of the CNG equipment to test all control wiring to the dispensers, card readers and emergency stop devices. Many of the sites completed by Hunt Electric are part of the State of Utah’s
I-15 Natural Gas Vehicle Corridor.

We have completed over 25 stations throughout Utah and surrounding states, with more projects currently under construction.

Some of the CNG locations that we have installed include: Questar Woods Cross, Questar Orem, Questar Hurricane, Questar West Haven, Questar Logan, Questar Perry, Questar St. George, Questar Naples, Questar Scipio, Questar Murray, Questar Sandy, Questar DNR, ACE Disposal, Salt Lake City Community College (SLCC), and many others.
